Welcome Richard!

Richard joined Innovative Changes back in August as our new Financial Household Resiliency (FHR) facilitator. He has been doing a fabulous job so far and we are delighted to have him on board. We asked him some questions so you can get to know him better!

What drew you to take on the FHR facilitator role at Innovative Changes?

I knew of community members and even family members who have increased their credit to levels they never imagined and that purchased homes for the first time. This was a way for me to serve my community but also share in their journey toward financial goals.

Where are you originally from and what do you like best about Portland?

I am native to Portland and what I love best about my home town is that it's so close to the mountains, the forest, the beach and everything in the city.

What does financial empowerment mean to you?

Freedom. The freedom to choose more from a more educated point of view. Ability. The ability to dream bigger. Power. Shifting power but also awakening the power we already have. Access. To have the access to opportunities that should be available to everyone.

How have your past experiences prepared you for your role at IC$?

My personal, familial, and community experiences have helped to develop my sense that I am just one piece of a larger, greater, resilient and unyielding village of people. My educational and academic experiences have helped me to enhance my skills and abilities. IC$ gives me a place where I can put both of those worlds together to uplift myself and my community.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy exploring. From hiking to traveling to eating at a new food place around town. There's a lot to see and a lot of life to live out there!
